Over the past three decades, US core inflation has remained low and relatively stable. Recent price pressure stemming from economic reopening and recovery has increased the latest May US core PCE print to 3.4% YoY. While elevated, history shows that even in low inflation regimes, episodes of higher inflation has occurred and proved transitory in the past. We expect this time to be similar.
